H.E Shaikha Mai Attends TAKREEM Jury Board Meeting in London

H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) president has attended TAKREEM Jury Board meeting recently in London to deliberate on laureates in a range of fields on 21 May 2015. This year’s board included dignitaries such as Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein of Jordan, Her Royal Highness Princess Banderi Abdul Rahman Al Faisal of Saudi Arabia, H.E Prince Mansoor Bin Nasser, Mr. Isa Abu-Isa from Qatar, Moataz Al-Alfi from Egypt and Sheikh Saleh al Turki, from Saudi Arabia.

Speaking on the occasion, H.E Shaikha Mai highlighted the importance of creativity and potential talent in Arab countries’ youth, stressing the need to continue supporting these talented Arab elements as part of the strategy to uplift the Arab society. H.E said, “The kingdom of Bahrain is proud to be part of such a pioneering initiative, which has high esteem for such values as beauty, humanity, and culture in our societies.”

Since its inception, TAKREEM has remained devoted to its commitment of honoring Arab success stories. The jury has adopted certain measurements when selecting the winning personalities from a long list of candidates. The members of the TAKREEM Jury Board studied carefully the files of the large number of candidates nominated for this honor. Jury discussions spread across the many fields of endeavor represented by the nominees. The only exception is the category of Outstanding Corporate Leadership and Exceptional International Contribution to Arab Society.

TAKREEM Jury Board has recently convened in London and deliberated on the 2015 laureates in the following fields: Young Entrepreneur, Humanitarian and Civic Services, Environmental Development and Sustainability, Scientific and Technological Achievement, Innovation in Education, Cultural Excellence, and Arab Woman of the Year.

Indeed, TAKREEM’s mission is to spot those stories of success in many fields such as culture, education, sciences, environment, and socio-economic development, and to find ways to feature them and celebrate their successes.

Beirut hosts TAKREEM headquarters, but the annual winning ceremony moves form one capital to another every year. In 2012, the kingdom of Bahrain hosted the ceremony.
