H.E Shaikha Mai Receives Standard Chartered Bank Delegation

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) president, met on 19 April 2016 with Standard Chartered Bank delegation headed by CEO Dr. Boutros Klink.

H.E Shaikha Mai praised the bank's role in bolstering economic activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, citing the two countries celebrating the bicentenary anniversary of bilateral ties. Shaikha Mai cited the Authority's cultural activities and events as part of the ‘Invest-in-Culture’ project themed ‘Bahrain Your Destination’ that consolidated cultural infrastructures in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

H.E Shaikha Mai briefed Dr. Klink on Bahrain's Annual Heritage Festival, Bahrain Annual Arts Exhibition, and the Bahrain National Theater sponsored and inaugurated in November 2012 under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. H.E also reviewed with her guests the steps and main aspects of ‘Pearling: Testimony of an Island Economy’ project which evidences the island's history in Muharraq due to be completed in 2018 whereas Muharraq has been designated the Capital of Islamic Culture 2018.

Dr. Klink briefed H.E Mai about the Bank's preparations for its first centenary (the Bank was established in 1920).

The two sides also talked about aspects of cooperation between BACA and the Bank in coordinating the cultural program for visiting delegations that will participate in the Bank's regional meeting next month.
