H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, president of the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA), received on 13 January 2016 a Housing Ministry delegation led by the Undersecretary for Housing, H.E Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, and discussed means of cooperation to preserve the national cultural achievements. The two sides also discussed following up rehabilitation of the neighborhood adjacent to Bahrain Fort after the residents have moved in the new housing units.
H.E Shaikha Mai welcomed the Housing Ministry Undersecretary, lauding the cooperation of the Ministry of Housing for the support of the cultural infrastructure and movement in Bahrain. The president of BACA added that the urban and cultural projects undertaken by the Authority to revive and flourish Qal’at al-Bahrain: ancient harbor and capital of Dilmun and is Bahrain’s most important and distinguished archaeological site, aims to boost Bahrain’s cultural and tourism sector. A near-future project to serve the local community surrounding Bahrain Fort will enhance Bahrain’s cultural tourism position and strategy, H.E added. .
The Housing Undersecretary stressed the need for concerted efforts to enrich Bahrain's cultural scene, praising BACA’s efforts to protect the universal historical and cultural heritage of Bahrain. H.E Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa affirmed the ministry's readiness to cooperate with the BACA to preserve cultural achievements.
