Preparations for Bahrain’s 17th International Book Fair are underway and the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities has just begun building the bridge phase, which will connect the Bahrain National Theater and the National Museum; two Bahrain icons. The bridge, designed by the Sayyed Jalal Company, will link the green space of the National Theater to the book fair tent through a walk way over the basin.

This comes as part of the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities latest preparations towards hosting the 17th Bahrain International Book Fair held from 24 March 3 April 2016. This year it will be held in the space behind the Bahrain National Museum overlooking the waterfront. The Bahrain International Book Fair has always been under the gracious patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

BACA, with the support the support of the Al-Baddad International Group that is building an 8,000 Square meter tent, is making the latest preparations to host this international cultural event inside the biggest temporary hall ever built since the establishment of Bahrain National Museum. The tent is comprised of many sections and encompasses the broad spectrum of the publishing industry in the Arab World which include; foreign titles, children’s books, teaching and e-leaning resources, and includes Jordan as a guest of honor. Visitors to the 17th Bahrain International Book Fair will have to leave their cars in the Bahrain National Museum and National Theater car parks and cross over the waterfront lake in order to reach the book fair tent.

Besides the intellectual, literary and scientific aspect of 17th Bahrain International Book Fair, the romantic beautiful waterfront landscape will reflect the richness and diversity of this year’s fair. The façade of the tent overlooking the sea will be totally made of glass so that the visitor can enjoy the view and light reflections. BACA will also provide stands for snacks and drinks and special sitting areas to meditate upon this beautiful scenery.

During the Bahrain International Book Fair last year, more than 350 publishers participated, as well as Egypt as a guest of honor, and included a number of intellectual, scientific and entertaining events for children.
