The Art Center Hosts “On the Road II” Exhibition by Zuhair Al Saeed
As part of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities’ celebrations as “Capital of Islamic Culture 2018”, Bahrain’s Art Center hosts a solo exhibition showing the works of artist Zuhair Al-Saeed, titled “On the Road II” on 14 January 2018 at 7:00 pm.
On the Road 2 is a continuation of Zuhair Al - Saeed’s exhibition (On the Road 1) showcased in 2015. The On the road series will continue to document the memory of the roads and its relations to the locals’ childhood (at a certain time) through artworks. Al Saeed works on nostalgic elements and the pining to the past in a fast moving world where memories are no longer kept, or often quickly lost.
Zuhair Al Saeed belongs to a younger generation of Bahraini artists that aim to reflect and explore the world that surrounds them. His On the Road II aims to consolidate his unique practice and art form through an investigation on found materials that confer his paintings an installation-like quality. Working on abetted ruins of modern architecture, the resulting pieces are not closed visual fields but enigmatic gateways into a source that is itself abetted and incomprehensible. Born in Bahrain, Zuhair’s art is inspired by social and environmental issues and he describes his work as being rooted in everyday reality.
