H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA, received, on 21 January 2018, an Egyptian parliamentary delegation led by House of Representatives , Dr Ali Abdel A’al. The visit comes as part of an official visit by the MPs to Bahrain.
H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, briefed the Egyptian parliamentary delegation on BACA’s plans and programs during 2018, celebrating Muharraq as the Capital of Islamic Culture 2018”, the 6th edition of Bahrain International Sculpture Symposium, chaired by the world-renowned Egyptian Fine Artist and Sculptor Adam Henein, the honorary President of this edition. H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa paid tribute to Egypt for its pivotal role in promoting Arab art, expressing her gratitude and appreciation to her counterpart for constant cultural cooperation.
The Egyptian delegation hailed Bahrain’s cultural dynamism, stressing BACA's role in promoting arts and culture, stressing out the importance of mutual cultural cooperation, lauding the innovative spirit of openness and coordination that symbolizes the cultural scene in Bahrain. This had led to an advanced culture infrastructure in the country and created golden opportunities for sustainable cultural tourism platform.
The delegation toured many exhibition museum halls and hailed Bahrain’s rich ancient heritage and civilization, expressing their admiration over the good organization of the exhibits and the way of preservation. They also admired the beauty of the exhibition Al-Fann: Art from the Islamic Civilization from The al-Sabah Collection”, co-organized by BACA and Dar Al-Athar al Islamiyah in Kuwait, reflecting the richness of this precious collection that clearly shows the exceptional value of arts in the Islamic world.
