As part of the celebrations of “Muharraq as the Capital of Islamic Culture 2018”, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, in cooperation with Bahrain Cinema Club, Launches “ Muharraq Short Film Award”, a competition to select the best short movie shedding lights on Muharraq city, its urban beautiful attractions, heritage traits and culture sweet souvenirs.
Commenting on the initiative of launching this award, H.E Shaikha Hala Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, Arts & Culture Director at Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities said “ We try through this initiative to reflect the attention and the importance BACA gives to all sorts of arts and culture, stressing the importance of discovering and supporting the new creative and gifted talents in Bahrain”. H.E added “ This initiative also enhances our partnership with different government entities and civil society organizations, especially those concerned with culture and its role in society’s development”.
Worth to mention that “ Muharraq Short Film Award Competition” aims to enable young talents in Bahrain to develop their abilities in the film industry, the media and arts skills, encouraging local independent filmmakers to elaborate their visions about Muharraq, whether directly or indirectly. The general theme of the short movie by the aspiring young should shed lights on the city of Muharraq, the photographing Movie Locations or others.
A Selection Committee of the competetion, made up of experts in art, film industry and cinema, has been formed and charged with the task of evealuating all works submitted under the above requirements and make the selection. Thus, It reserves the sole right to decide which films will be admitted to competition. Submission deadline for films is 30 November 2018. Participants are requested to abide by the rules and regulations and all art works ‘s materials properly submitted via BACA’s web site : www.culture.gov.bh
