Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities organizes a visit to the hadra (fishing traps laid out at sea) around the Qal'at al Bahrain coastline, on 20 April 2019, from 9:00 am-11:00 am. Registration for participation in the workshop is open for those (18 years and above) via BACA’s website : www.culture.gov.bh.
The aim of this tour is give the participants the opportunity to learn how to make tradition fish traps from natural materials in the immediate area surrounding, a site which is very rich with popular local crafts, such as such as traditional fish traps (Hadra), oyster beds flourish in the warm, shallow waters of the Island Kingdom, and as it remains true to its name, welcoming travelers from all over the world to experience a truly unique and memorable activity. The pearling tradition is an activity deep rooted in Bahrain’s history, and has served as a lucrative asset to the Island Kingdom for the past 4,000 years.
