As, part of the 14th edition of Spring of Culture Festival, Dar al Muharraq hosted on 20 April 2019, an amazing evening of music event, performed by Dar Jinaa Traditional Music Group.
During the music evening, Fjiri music art echoed throughout the alleyways of time and place in Dar Jinaa and elsewhere, a mystical genre that traces its roots back to the island’s glorious legacy of its world-famous pearling heritage.
The audience present also enjoyed a distinguished musical performance, reminding them of the seafaring and pearling traditions of the local Fjiri genre, accompanied by folk percussions instruments, such as drums, toos or Sanj and Mirwas. The music echoed local legends of genuine art associated with sailors and pearling in a sweet refined voices.
Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities aims through these folk music evenings remodel and revive and to document the intangible cultural heritage of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Indeed, the folk Bahrain music is part of the rich historical heritage of Bahrain, telling stories of forefathers’ legacy, and giving a detailed reflections of their daily routines, social and cultural practices.
