Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, keen to offer a bouquet of exceptional traditional folk music concerts throughout the historical houses in the Kingdom, held, on 16 February 2019, a sweet evening of popular folk music at Dar al Riffa, which was performed by Dar Al-Riffa Youth Music Band. The music group played some of the most refined traditional music styles, taking the audience into sweet acoustic and beautiful rhythms, recollecting diverse traditional Bahraini music styles.
This evening of music testifies to Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities’ strenuous efforts to safeguard and revive the Kingdom’s intangible heritage, whereby the performance highlighted the various styles of the uniquely Bahraini songs, especially the Fujairi tradition, a mystical genre whose roots go back to Bahrain’s world-famous pearling heritage, and most prominent arts reflecting part of the intangible local culture heritage. Worth to mention that Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities inaugurated Dar Al Riffa in December 2017, a year baptized as “Our year of Archaeology”, which was dedicated to establish a vivid and fervent sustainable cultural infrastructure as planned and masterminded by Bahrain Culture Authority.
Worth to mention that the Culture Authority plans periodically evenings of music at Dar al Muharraq and Dar al Riffa. Bahrain’s Culture Authority aims, through these popular music concerts, to document the intangible cultural heritage of the Kingdom of Bahrain. both Dars (Dar al Muharraq and Dar al Riffa) accommodate training program’s areas, workshop spaces, and related lectures.
