Increase in the Number of Bahrain National Museum’s Visitors in the First Trimester 2019 In comparison to 2018

Considered as of leading cultural institution concerned with the safeguard and protection of Bahrain’s rich and diversified heritage, and the biggest platform to showcase arts and culture and promote them, Bahrain National Museum’s visitors increased by 17% in the first trimester of 2019 ( January-Mars-April), in comparison to the same period last year 2018. Indeed, the number of visitors reached 41,000  persons, whether Bahraini, residents, or tourists.

 Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities has launched since the start of 2019, baptized as the“ Year of Celebrations 2019”,  a series of events to honor the historical achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain as reflected by hosting three exhibitions by  Bahrain National Museum; "Bahrain National Museum: A 30th Anniversary Retrospective", which still showcases the museology artworks,   "Design Crossroads: The Jewellery of Saudi Arabia", which ended last April,  and the "Golden Jubilee Celebration of Bahraini Diplomacy", which lasted for 4 months. In addition, Bahrain Museum hosted a number of lectures, which shed lights on  different cultural issues, attracting a huge number of intellectuals and culture lovers.

Bahrain National Museum’s great deeds were not simply limited to exhibitions, but it extended its work plan to include hosting many festivals, such as Japan’s Cinema Festival 2019, supported by the Japan Foundation,  and in cooperation between  Embassy of Japan in the Kingdom of Bahrain and  Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities. Bahrain National Museum also hosted “ Food is Culture” annual event, on the sidelines of the Annual Arts Exhibition.

Book launch and sign also figure among the National Museum’s achievements; “ Khalid Al Shaikh”, “ Food is Culture” documentation booklet for the 4th consecutive year, as well as  Khalil Al-Hashemi’s art work  titled “ a Squadron of Birds”. The Museum’s halls hosted indeed, a number of extensive and multiple different workshops, attracting all Bahraini social categories.

The Museum’s “ Burial Mounds’ Hall, telling the  story of  “the Land of Immortality”, and  the Land of Dilmun, with its new design and look according to the cutting-edge world museum exhibitions techniques also attracted an increasing number of visitors.

 Worth to mention that visitors can enjoy these wonders hosted by Bahrain National Museum, open daily  from 10: 00 am-6:00 pm, except on Tuesdays, according to the new working agenda of museums, heritage and archaeological sites in the Kingdom of Bahrain applied  since the beginning of the year.
