In continuation of its efforts to enhance awareness spreading about the Bahraini World Natural Heritage, Bahrain Authority for Culture &Antiquities (BACA), organized a free to public open-air tour to o the beautiful farms around Qal’at al Bahrain. The event comes as part of the 14th Edition of the Spring of Culture Festival.
During this tour, which was given in English-Arabic languages, the 60 participants had much joy and satisfaction discovering and learning about local agriculture and traditional methods of farming. The tour started from Qala’at al Bahrain Site Museum, heading towards the surrounding farms, whereby Dr. Salman Al-Mahari, Museums & Archaeology Directorate at BACA, gave a detailed explanation of historical farming methods of the successive Bahraini civilizations since Dilmun times, 4000 years ago, until present. Participants also visited these herbal and traditional medicinal waters factory, Al Jisr Factory near the site, which is the best establishment in this matter in the whole region.
Worth to mention that the 14th Edition of the Spring of Culture Festival, running until April 2019 also coincides with BACA’s year-long dedication “Year of Celebrations 2019, and presents a bouquet of a thousand flowers, ranging between amazing pulsating music, phenomenal performances, global talents to be hosted by cultural institutions, historical sites and iconic urban centers around the Kingdom of Bahrain.
