Keen to enhance cooperation efforts between all official governmental in order to carry out major achievements and brilliant results placing Bahrain at its well-deserved position as a citadel of international historical destination, Bahrain’s Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA), represented by its President, H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bahrain Airport Company, represented by its Chairman His Excellency Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, to offer museum and art exhibits at the new passenger terminal at the Bahrain International Airport. The event took place on 7 March 2019.
Speaking for the occasion, H.E said that the Kingdom of Bahrain has always been at the cross-roads of major civilizations, leaving a huge cultural and historical tangible and intangible heritage. H.E added saying “ As we approach the inaugural date of the new international passenger terminal building, we open a new page and new phase in passengers ‘welcoming history warmly accommodating Bahrain’s visitors coming from all over the world”.
H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa lauded the efforts made by Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry, and the wonderful job undertaken by His Excellency Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed to accomplish this mission, which would enhance the bright image of Bahrain regionally and internationally. H.E has pointed out that the MoU is the fruit of constructive cooperation between BACA and Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry, providing a convenient platform for museum and art exhibits to be showcased at the new Passenger Terminal Building. The new airport gates and halls will be an attracting destination for passengers to discover the amazing hidden historical and cultural treasures of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
His Excellency Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, for his part, said that this MoU is part of a comprehensive project planned by the Ministry for Bahrain International Airport’s new state-of-the-art terminal, set to make a big impression on passengers and significantly enhance airline operations, transforming it into an important promotion tool for Bahrain’s rich historical, artistic and civilizational heritage, a source of national pride.
His Excellency Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed said the new Passenger Terminal Building permanent space dedicated to exhibits within their walls, integrating art as part of the airport's design, would surprise travelers in positive way when they pass through the airport gates. Bahrain Culture Authority would provide art exhibitions at the airport to be valued by the passengers, making the new terminal one of most important art galleries and culture centers in Bahrain, promoting the marketing mechanisms of Bahrain’s art and culture products, which are the main national heritage, as well as contributing effectively to enhancing cultural cooperation and enrichment.
Minister of Telecommunications and Transportation Kamel bin Ahmed Mohammed, commended H.E’s strenuous efforts to enhance the cultural activities in Bahrain, expressing admiration for the wonderful work undergone by Bahrain’s Authority for Culture & Antiquities to make Bahrain a world culture hub, expressing admiration for BACA’s efforts to preserve Bahrain’s heritage sites, stressing the importance of concerted efforts between all governmental entities and parties to promote and enrich the local cultural scene in Bahrain.
Therefore, Bahrain Airport Company, according to the MoU, would provide two exhibition halls inside the new Passenger Terminal Building under construction, showcasing art and historical exhibits provided by BACA, reflecting, thus, the richness and diversity of Bahrain’s genuine and beautiful heritage. In addition, the terms of the agreement stipulate that BACA, in coordination with Bahrain Airport Company, deploys all necessary efforts to change and these art exhibitions periodically, providing a joyful and nice experience for visitors coming and leaving the Kingdom of Bahrain.
