H.E Shaikha Mai Receives the Russian Ambassador

 

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) received, on 12 March  2019, the Russian ambassador,  H.E. Mr. Igor Kremnev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting discussed ways to enhance cultural cooperation between the two friendly peoples.

H.E Shaikha Mai welcomed her guest, stressing the depth of the good relations between the two countries and praised the deep-rooted bilateral cooperation ties in various fields especially in the cultural fields, resulting in outstanding cultural exchange over the years. H.E also lauded Russia’s presence in BACA’s events, citing the participation of the Russian Ballet, “Scheherazade”, which kicked off the 14th edition of the Spring of Culture Festival on 25 February 2019, coinciding with Arab Tourism Day, held on 25 February each year, and also  in conjunction  with the birthday of Arab renowned explorer traveler  Ibn Batutah.

During the meeting, H.E Shaikha Mai also  briefed the ambassador on BACA’s main cultural activities, such as the and 14th edition of the Spring of Culture Festival, running until end of April, and others events planned for 2019, baptized   as the “Year of Celebrations”,  introducing a number of principal events that shaped the Kingdom of Bahrain's Modern history, throughout a number of remarkable cultural, economic and social  achievements over 100 years.

The Russian ambassador expressed thanks to H. E Shaikha Mai for her constant communication with all parties that are interested in enriching the cultural movement in Bahrain,  and his admiration of BACA’s programs and projects to be implemented in the upcoming period, affirming his readiness to enrich the cultural and artistic cooperation through mutual presence in the cultural scene of both countries.
