Prior to His “ Alongside You”, Concert, Bahrain National Museum’s Forum, “ Taste of the Experience” in Honor of Artist Khalid al-Shaikh
Bahrain National Museum hosted a special event forum, on 26 March 2019, “The Taste of Experience”, a new book launch that highlights Al-Shaikh’s lasting legacy and honors his music achievements, in the presence of H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammad Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, BACA’s officials, a selection of poets, musicians and lovers of arts and culture in the Kingdom of Bahrain. the forum, part of the 14th Edition of the Spring of Culture Festival events, which was moderated by artist Khalid Al-Rowaei and a guest panel consisting of Al-Shaikh himself and Mohamed Haddad shed lights on the journey of one of most prolific and renowned musical figures of Bahrain: singer and composer Khalid Al-Shaikh.
The forum highlighted the artistic career from different perspectives, as well the impact of his music style on his listeners’ hearts, locally and in the Arab wider region. The artist also spoke about his relationship with poetry, whether colloquial or classic, saying “ When I hold the Oud music instrument, I try distil the essence of poetry into pure sound because I am holding poems into my hands: the tune doesn't rely on the words, but the feelings and emotions it lays open to music mystic worlds”.
Al-Shaikh also elaborated his music conception details and his vision through some of his works, while music artist, Mohammad Al-Haddad, gave an artistic music analysis of these compositions and their production. The forum discussion was accompanied by a music performance, as well as the audience’s interactions and enquiries regarding the first music compositions performed by Khalid al Shaikh.
On the sidelines of this forum, “The Taste of Experience”, composed by artist Khalid Al-Rowaei, a new book that highlights Al-Shaikh’s was launched and signed. The event forum took place prior to the concert hosted by the Bahrain National Theatre on Thursday March 28 2019, as part of the 14th Edition of the Spring of Culture Festival events. The concert features a number of Al-Shaikh’s most beloved hits with music by the Bahrain Music Band led by maestro Khalifa Zaman.
Worth to mention that the 14th Edition of the Spring of Culture Festival will run until the end of April 2019.
