For the 4th Consecutive Day, Lectures and exhibitions on “Conversation on Hawar: at the ARC-WH

The Arab World Heritage Center,  in cooperation with Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, the Supreme Council for Environment, The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Convention on Migratory Species, and Effective Measures for Protecting the threatened species of Bahrain - University of Bahrain, continues its series of events, which kicked off on 24 March, shedding lights on “Conversation on Hawar: Preservation and Development”. The Fourth day (27 March) centered around a detailed presentation by Maya Bankova and Leena Iyengar- Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund on “  Dugong and Seagrass Conservation Project, whereby they both detailed the Fund’s crucial role in the safeguard and the protection of this living organisms, not only locally, but internationally also.

 The first day (24 March) of “Conversation on Hawar: Preservation and Development”, attended by a selection of natural and environment experts and researchers,  started with three lectures under the theme  “ Natural features of Hawar Archipelago”, by Mr. Ali Mansour - Supreme Council for Environment, who shed lights on “Biodiversity and Protected Areas of Bahrain”. Dr Mohammed Al Rumaidh spoke about the “ Natural features of Hawar Archipelago”, while Dr Humood Nasser - University of Bahrain, highlighted the “ National Red List assessment of threatened Species”.  On 25 March, there was a lecture on “Exploring Hawar Islands wildlife for over two decades” by  Howard King, presentation a detailed explanation, photos and videos films on the wildlife in these islands, while on 26 March, the ARC-WH center organized four lectures shedding lights “Convention on Migratory Species - Abu Dhabi (UNEP) - Lyle Glowka: Executive Coordinator, H.E Shaikh Khalifa Al Khalifa spoke about “World Heritage Convention”  and Dr. Ali Mansour– Supreme Council for Environment- on “Ramsar Convention on Wetlands”. Etaf Chehadeh, UNEP ROWA, highlighted the importance of “Convention of Biological Diversity”.

The last day ( 28 March) of “Conversation on Hawar: Preservation and Development” will start discussion sessions at 10:00 am until 14:00pm focusing on “Ecosystem Services - UNEP ROWA by Etaf Chehadeh, “World Heritage Benefits” by Haifaa Abdulhalim: Coordinator, ARC-WH/ IUCN - TABE’A programme “Hawar Ecotourism and Sealife Protection” by  Mr. Kai Miethig.
