H.E Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director-General of Culture and Arts at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, represented Her Excellency Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Authority, at the Mutual Meeting for Tourism and Culture Ministers in Arab States, held on 16 October, at the Tunisian capital, Tunis. The meeting was held on the occasion of choosing Tunis as the Capital of Islamic Culture and Heritage 2019.
The conference discussed a number of common issues and preoccupations between Arab tourism and culture ministers , following the Resolution (50) of the 4th Arab Economic and Social Development summit, held last January 2019. The ministers also discussed supporting emerging institutions for innovation in this field through cultural tourism, preservation of historical and archaeological sites and monuments and finding ways to finance them, as well as they will discuss museum tourism in the Arab world as it has become an interactive cultural institution. In addition, the participants praised the General Secretariat of the Arab League's report on the results and recommendations of the working group on the follow-up to the implementation of the initiative of integration between tourism, cultural and heritage in the Arab countries, in light of the decision of the Arab Development, Economic and Social summit last January, which included the approval of Saudi Commission for Tourism & National Heritage’s initiative on integration between tourism and cultural and heritage in the Arab countries
In addition, the meeting also reviewed the first and second social reports of the working group to follow up the implementation of the initiative of integration between tourism and cultural heritage in the Arab countries. Moreover, It also followed the topic of "Digitization of Tourism Heritage: Valuation, Education and Investment", the preservation of historical and archaeological sites and monuments and best ways to finance them in addition to the museum tourism in the Arab world. Promoting museology tourism in the Arab countries, is now being considered as part of the sustainable heritage development and an efficient tool to introduce the rich national Arab heritage serving a noble cause related to society and national heritage.
