H.E Shaikha Mai Receives Minister of Works
H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) received at her office on 27 October 2019, the Minister of Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Dr. Esam Khalaf, accompanied by the Ministry’s Undersecretary, H.E Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
The meeting discussed the common cooperation projects, ways and means of enhancing collaboration in order to uplift the cultural infrastructure in the Kingdom of Bahrain, especially Manama city.
H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al- Khalifa thanked Minister of Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning, Dr. Esam Khalaf, lauding the strenuous efforts of his ministry to implement and carry out Bahrain’s cultural infrastructure projects, and its constant readiness to cooperate with Bahrain Culture Authority to implement its urban and architectural big projects. The meeting also discussed coordination efforts for the festivities celebrating 100 years of Bahrain’s municipal policy works in 2019, the renovation and the revitalization of Manama Municipality Building, given that this project falls under BACA’s year-long historical celebrations of Bahrain’s achievements under the slogan “- A Year of Celebrations 2019”. Both parties also reviewed the latest preparations to launch a unique exceptional exhibition showcasing the history of municipal action and its development in Bahrain, and in Manama particularly.
H.E Esam Khalaf, Minister of Works, for his part, lauded H.E Shaikha Mai’s efforts to preserve and safeguard the urban historical heritage of Bahrain’s iconic genuine old towns, praising BACA’s role in preserving Bahrain’s historical and urban heritage. Dr Khalaf also lauded BACA’s strategy to make Bahrain a pioneering cultural hub and preferred destination regionally and internationally voicing his readiness to cooperate with the Authority with regard to future cultural projects.
