“5.00 P.M At Bab” series of activities and events organized by Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities is back again with a new perspective and philosophy, presenting on 31 October, 2019, at 5:00 pm, an interactive guided tour at Manama old suq. The initiative is organized by BACA in cooperation with “Manama Story” project. Meeting point will be near Bab al Bahrain before the tour kick off. Registration for participation in the workshop is open for those (16 years and above) via BACA’s website : www.culture.gov.bh.
During this “ Manama Story” tour, participants will discover how the lively streets of this nation’s capital are teeming with rich economic, cultural, social unique history, although a majority of it is recent.
Worth to mention that“5.00 P.M At Bab” series of activities and events offer an array of events that are in conformity with the dynamic environment of the place and its historical value, given that the history in Bahrain extends beyond the walls of the museums and into the sprawling maze of the streets of Old Town Manama. “ 5 PM At BAB” initiative is open for all age categories because it offers a space for creativity in any art or skill, evenings of music, creative workshops and cultural tours etc.
“ Manama Story” propjet started in 2017 with voluntary activities that took the shape of virtual e-museum later on, assembling and collecting all documentary materials related to Manama city’s, its most important landmarks, famous personalities and figures, and key events that had happened there, safeguarding, thus the social, cultural and urban fabric of the historical city. Manama city is somehow a kind of a dichotomy of old and new; a place jumping with the strange energies created by the eclectic fusion of the modern metropolis with historical architecture. The project won HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Award for the Best Voluntary Work in 2018.
