H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, Chairperson of the Board of the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) expressed her shock and deep sadness at the devastation and loss of life caused by the massive explosion that rocked the Lebanese capital, Beirut. The city’s universal cultural history richness, heritage and exceptional landmarks have always been a source of inspiration for the Arab society, H.E argued.
H.E said that in these terrible circumstances, we stand with Lebanon and its people, and expressed her readiness to coordinate with the concerned cultural heritage institutions to restore historical important memories of the place. The large blast that hit the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on 4 August 2020, shall never erase any of its historical and civilizational landmarks, H.E added.
H.E called on all parties responsible for the Cultural and Heritage Affairs to coordinate efforts in order to restore Beirut’s exceptional and unique Tangible World Heritage assets.
