Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, keen to maintain its strong ties with culture lovers and the large public in the Kingdom of Bahrain despite the physical distance, presents a multitude of vivid events online via Bahrain Summer Festival on 9 August 2020, offering the audience an array of different aspects of Bahain’s Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage elements. At 5:00pm the festival schedules virtual online tour through Bahrain National Museum Halls, followed by an evening of sweet traditional genuine music performed by Qalali Folk Band at 7:00pm. To stay tuned with these and other events, please login on to Bahrain Summer Festival channel on You Tube @BahrainSummer Festival.
The virtual tour will kick off at the entrance of Bahrain National Museum guided by the most lovely and famous iconic characters of the festival, “Nakhool & Nakhoola”, visiting all the museum’s halls, where the different artifacts excavated by the successive archaeological expeditions in Bahrain stand witness to the ancient deeply-rooted history of Bahrain, since the Dilum civilization to the modern times.
The distinguished musical performance by Qalali Music Ensemble will take the public into a mystic journey, evoking sweet memories of the seafaring and pearling traditions of the local Fjiri and Samri music genres, considered part and parcel of Bahrain’s history and its Intangible Cultural Heritage. Through its performances in various national, cultural, social, and sporting events in Bahrain, the region and throughout the world, the band has helped promote this uniquely Bahraini art form throughout the world, drawing on its strong belief that art transcends borders and time art. Qalali Band was established more than 100 years ago, making it one Bahrain’s oldest folk bands.
Bahrain Summer Festival, held this year under “Virtually Together” slogan, will continue to entertain and enrich the cultural scene until 31st August 2020 via a virtual online platform given the exceptional pandemic outbreak. So, please stay tuned and follow the festival’s daily events on social media channels on @Nakhoolbah, as well as login on to Bahrain Summer Festival’s program for more details about events and dates on www.bahrainsummer.com
The festival presents an array of exciting, month-long program of online educational and creative activities, workshops, performances, tours and more, for all ages. International music concerts, story-telling and competitions will also be part of this movement of cultural resilience.
