Bahrain Summer Festival’s Third Week Events

The 12th  edition of the Bahrain Summer Festival, held under  "Together Virtually”, continues to enrich the cultural scene in the Kingdom of Bahrain, offering an array of diversified events online to his faithful public, such as international music and art shows, workshops, tours  and many others activities.

The Online remote music and art shows will kick off on 16 August with three successive shows; Palestinian Folk Arts Band concert show, organized in cooperation with the Palestinian embassy. Spotlighting the Palestinian folkloric art entitled Talat, this ensemble is a source of Palestinian cultural identity and pride in the face of systematic oppression. The ensemble is keen on mixing folk-inspired dance with contemporary moves, expressing the spirit of the nation from the past to present such as through reinterpretations of traditional dance patterns like Dabke, thus reflecting their special vision for a contemporary Palestinian dance.  The second popular arts show will be performed by Al-Takhet Traditional Arts group from Kuwait, in cooperation with the Kuwaiti embassy, dazzling the audience with an evening of various Gulf folk arts with Firqa’t Takht such as Sout, Samri and Qadri, as well as vocal arts from Yemen and Aden. The 16 August final show will be performed by Bahrain Police Music Band, held in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, whereby a blend of sounds, namely military and traditional Bahraini music will be orchestrated in authentic sweet rhymes.

Bahrain Summer Festival, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in the Kingdom of Bahrain, will broadcast, on 17 August,  “Moroccan Folklore – Daqqa de Marrakech” an amazing famous dance from Marrakesh,  which is one of their most prominent folk arts, a tradition that has been passed down through the generations for more than four centuries. On 19 August “Vocal Trash” Band promotes green sustainability, as well as social awareness of issues like anti-bullying, to students globally. Vocal Trash’s performance is held in collaboration with the Embassy of the United States of America in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The final show of the Third week of Bahrain Summer festival will be on 21 August with “White Crow” theater show, an event held in collaboration with the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Can crows be beautiful? Or are they bound to their philosophical perspectives, one that instills a sense of doom and gloom in them, driving people to fly away? This play is a twist on the conceptual ideas crows embody, showing the beauty of doves while exposing their opposites as a representation of the forces of evil seeking to destroy love and peace

The Third week of Bahrain Summer Festival is also barren with many workshops planned, starting with “Vocal Trash” Band, which promotes environmental green sustainability, peace, love as well as children’s social awareness of issues related to making difference through arts. On 17 August, Bahrain Summer Festival, in collaboration with the Turkish embassy in Bahrain, presents a Chinese porcelain workshop, whereby participants will learn the basics of this traditional craft of çini making from the formation and dying process, to its final product. Ceramic craftsmanship is considered one of the most ancient crafts that remains of important value in modern day Turkey.

On 18 August 2020, Bahrain Summer festival will broadcast live two workshops; “ Monoprinting”, whereby  Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with prints — they will use different colors, create different imagery and then experiment some more, witnessing the eclectic results of this creative workshop presented by the Bahrain National Museum. In addition, there will be another workshop presented by “Vocal Trash” Vocal Trash – Repurpose / Drumming; Children are encouraged to use metal trash cans, plastic barrels, water bottles and more to create their own recycled percussion sets. The basic principle behind this drumming activity is perform more and teach less — the best method to engage with young creative minds. On 19 August, “Super Science” will be broadcasted via Bahrain Summer festival online channels. This workshop, organized in collaboration with Grow Learning Space will teach you how to create science experiments, mix liquids, watch reactions, and make things disappear, all using readily available materials at home to see some magical science! The same day will also witness another workshop by the same learning center namely, “Cool Creations” workshop, whereby the little ones will learn how   this workshop will make you think like an engineer and create amazing projects, showcasing physics in real-life! Using materials readily available at home, make projects that move, fly and imitate humans!

On 20 August, the festival will broadcast a tour guided by the loveliest characters of the festival, “Nakhool & Nakhoola” leading the audience through a physical and timeline trip to Bu Maher Fort and Pearling Path Visitor Center. On 21 August, two events will be broadcasted; the first is “Masouda the Turtle” and the second is “Grumpy Gertie”. With regard to cooking and live cuisine arts, the festival lovers will be happy to meet Chef Sara Al-Kooheji showing them how to make “Chocolate Chip Cookie Pizza”.  Sports activities will also be at the center of the festival planning, thus, on 22 August, “Fitness with Johan” activity will be broadcasted live, whereby Johan Estehuizen, the co-founder of Pure Fit, who is a Biokineticist and Exercise Physiologist, will exhibit corrective movement techniques, as well as demonstrating a short fitness program suitable for children and adults alike.
