Bahrain’s Ta’a Al-Shabab Festival’s Movie Première, “ Looking For Um Kahlthum” Cinema –Music Night

For the first time in Bahrain, Ta’a al Shabab’s Festival 11th edition’s “ Harmony Premiere” organized, on 22 February 2020, a cinema night, screening “ Looking For Um Kauthum” by Director Shirin Neshat, shedding lights life journey and legacy of “ Star of East”, the Diva Umm Kulthum , the legendary prominent Egyptian singer.

The movie was screened for the first time in Bahrain as part of cooperation between “ Premiere” initiative, a cinema industry oriented youth endeavor, and “ Harmony” music initiative of Ta’a al Shabab youth festival.

Mr. Ahmed Al-Kuwaiti, “ Premiere” initiative director, said that the idea of cooperation between both initiatives was meant to pay tribute to the legend Um Kalthum, mixing cinema and music in an exceptional marvelous blend. Mr. Wesam al Khuzai, “ Harmony” initiative director, for his part, said that the music performance after the movie screening, was a real challenge, reflecting the determination of Bahraini talented youth to perform genuine classical Arabic music in the spirit of Um Kalthum mesmerizing delicious rhythms and philosophy.  

  The movie director, Mrs.  Shirin Neshat, expressed her deep satisfaction and joy for screening her movie for the first time in Bahrain through Ta’a al- Shabab’s Festival.  

Worth to mention that Ta’a al Shabab’s Festival 11th edition is sponsored by many parties and corporations, in addition to the official sponsor, Bahrain's Labor Fund Tamkeen,: Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning, Edamah, GIPEC, Ceparco, Bahrain Airport Services, BAS, Bahrain Public Transport Company. The festival is also supported by Al- Helli Markest, Ramez, and MacDonald’s.

This year’s edition of Ta’a al Shabab festival  will run until 7 March 2020.  The festival organizing committee invites everyone to participate in the different activities and events,  except participation in the workshops, which requires a previous registration via the festival web site. It is worth mentioning that "Ta'a Al Shabab", is a cultural project that was founded by the late Mohammed Al-Banki, who believed and adopted new creative young dynamic cultural activities and events merging and mixing cultural, literary and artistic  projects together under one umbrella, that is “ Ta’a la Shabab” . Later these projects were carried out  and materialized by Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, led by  H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al Khalifa.
