Ta’a Al-Shabab Festival Invites Critic and Writer, Tareq Al-Khawaji, Japanese Anime Cartoons Forum discussion

Ta’a al Shabab’s Festival 11th edition’s  initiative “ We All Read” organized a round table discussion forum on “ Castle of Anime” by Saudi writer, Mr. Tarek al Khawaji, on 24 February 2020, at Ta’a al Shaba’s reserved  Diplomatic Area. Mr. Tarek al Khawaji is one of the most famous cinema critic in Saudi Arabia.

The forum discussion figured a number of themes related to al-Khawaji’s journey with Anime ( Japanese Cartoons), shedding lights on brainstorming, details of Anime creative pioneering writers and major works. Al-Khawaji argued that Anime is a diverse art form with distinctive production methods and techniques that have been adapted over time in response to emergent technologies. It combines graphic art, characterization, cinematography, and other forms of imaginative and individualistic techniques. Al-Khawaji said that the production of anime focuses less on the animation of movement and more on the realism of settings as well as the use of camera effects, including panning, zooming, and angle shots. Being hand-drawn, anime is separated from reality by a crucial gap of fiction that provides an ideal path for escapism that audiences can immerse themselves into with relative ease. Diverse art styles are used and character proportions and features can be quite varied, including characteristically large emotive or realistically sized eyes. Al-Khawaji also said that Ta’a al Shabab festival has become a hub, a lighthouse to the youth in Bahrain and elsewhere in the region, attracting creative young talents.

Worth to mention that Ta’a al Shabab’s Festival 11th edition is sponsored by many parties and corporations, in addition to the official sponsor, Bahrain's Labor Fund Tamkeen,: Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning, Edamah, GIPEC, Ceparco, Bahrain Airport Services, BAS, Bahrain Public Transport Company. The festival is also supported by Al- Helli Markest, Ramez, and MacDonald’s.
