The 29th edition of the Bahrain International Music Festival presented another evening of extraordinary drive-in concert performed by the famous folk band, Mohammed bin Faris Sut Music House, which was held on 27 October 2020, at 8:00 pm next to the Qal’at al-Bahrain site. The festival’s live concerts are COVID-safe drive-in.
The band performed various types of traditional local musical genres and songs, among the most important of which is Fan Al-Sout vocal music songs, such as “Law khayrooni”, “ Ah ya zamani”, “ Adeel –al rooh”, “ yétra alay lawwal”, “ Tabine Aini’ “ Shweikh”, in addition to Samri voice music art. This music repertoire is a distinctly Bahraini genre that recalls the island’s glorious fishing and pearling past.

Indeed, this year, the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities is organizing the Bahrain International Music Festival in a different way, as the public can watch the drive-in concerts that are all held in parking lots of the Qal’at al-Bahrain Site Museum at 8:00 pm live while seated in their cars via their radio channels frequency (98.4 FM). Vehicles instead of standing in the designated socially distanced spots. Therefore, the attendants are asked to observe a distance between cars parked as determined by organizers, abstain from getting out of their cars for any reason so ever, wearing their face masks if they wish to communicate with one of the organizers, and make sure that *only 4 persons* are allowed to sit in the car. BACA kindly requests all attendants to disperse after the concert is over, cooperate with the organizers to assure the fluidity of the traffic when entering the area and follow the instructions and guidance when leaving the parking lot of Qala’at al Bahrain Fort outside parking lots. The concerts will be live on two radio stations (FM 95) and (FM 98.4) and on the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities channel on YouTube (CultureBah).
Worth to mention that the festival will continue to present its shows until the end of this month, offering an array of concerts and evenings of music that reflect a rainbow mosaic of music genres, ranging from folk arts, oriental music style, Latino and jazz music. Thus, on 28 October, jazz will be celebrated with years of experience meshing jazz and modern musical styles, all of The Suspenders’ performances ooze an enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere. The young Bahraini saxophonist Abdulla Haji will accompany the trio for this performance. On 30 October, the public will certainly love pop music concert by Barbaros Büyükakkan, a famous Turkish singer who is distinguished for his unique musical style. The final festival’s concert to take place on, 31 October will feature Egyptian singer Rehab Mutawa accompanied by the Bahrain Music Band for a nostalgic performance of the most beautiful genuine Arabic classical tunes. The concert is held in cooperation with the Egyptian Embassy in Bahrain. Singer Rehab Mutawa will present a sweet rhythm blend of the most beautiful original Arabic songs.
Also participating again this year Café Lilou in the 29th Bahrain International Music Festival, by offering a special and exclusive menu that includes a variety of delicious foods and drinks that are compatible with the diversity of this festival and are inspired by these cultures and musical styles in conjunction with the period of the music festival.
