The 29th edition of Bahrain International Music Festival workshops’ program started on 25 October 2020. Workshops are held daily until the 28th of this month at 6:00 pm in the Flexible Theater Bahrain National Theater and presented by the Bahrain Institute for Music, in cooperation with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities.
The workshop Program began with a workshop entitled “Musical Genres and Composition, which provides an introduction to the different genres of music and their basic elements and the differences between them, in addition to a brief explanation about the history of musical composition, copyright, etc.”
On 26 October, “The Role of the Music in the Society” workshop will shed lights on the concept of the importance of music in enriching our civilizations and societies, starting with a brief history of music and the musical genre, the impact of life events on music, and music as a form of expression. The workshop will be accompanied by a review of musical performance, so that participants gin a more comprehensive view on the main factors of the role that music plays in our society.
On 27 October, a workshop entitled “Introduction to Musical Instruments” will be held, in which the participants will get a basic introduction to each type of musical group. The workshop also presents a practical part that goes beyond the theoretical discussions and covers orchestras and instruments in detail.
The program of Bahrain Festival workshops concludes the music festival, with “Jamming & Improvisation” workshop, which will cover popular genres such as jazz, pop, rock and classical music, with highlighting the types and methods of free improvisation. Through this two-part workshop: theoretical and practical, participants will learn a brief history of improvisation and free playing, as well as a demonstration.
It is noteworthy that the Bahrain International Music Festival continues to perform until the end of this month, when the public can watch the concerts, which are all held in the stands of Qala’at al Bahrain Site Museum at 8:00 PM, directly via cars.
