Bahrain Culture Authority Celebrates the 13th Anniversary of Qala’at al Bahrain Site Museum today

 

Every year on February 18th, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities celebrates the anniversary inauguration of Qala’at al Bahrain Site Museum, first Bahraini archeological site registered UNESCO’s World Heritage List. This special event will be celebrated virtually today via BACA’s social network channels @CultureBah.

The live broadcast celebration will figure a speech by H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed, President of Bahrain’s Authority for Culture and Antiquities, in which H.E will commemorate this iconic landmark, saying “On this day, 18 February, we celebrate the 13th anniversary of  Qala’at al Bahrain Site Museum inauguration. Qala’at Al- Bahrain was the first Bahraini archaeological site inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005, and its museum is considered as one of the pioneering cultural tourism infrastructure projects”, H.E added.    

 H.E renewed her sincere thanks and appreciation to Arcapita Financial Group for its generous support and sponsor for Qala’at al Bahrain Site Museum establishment and the bank’s constant support to the cultural movement projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
H.E Shaikha Mai has also pointed out that Qala’at al Bahrain site, together with the museum are the favorite destinations for the greatest numbers of cultural venues’ visitors coming to Bahrain, stressing the importance of promoting the Kingdom of Bahrain’s rich cultural assets and historical landmarks. H.E invited culture lovers to visit the site and discover the unique magic wonders of discovered artefacts that story tell the history of multiple successive civilizations of the Kingdom of Bahrain.  

 In addition, the special festive day celebration will include a lecture by Dr. Mounir Bouchenaki, World Heritage Affairs’ Consultant at Bahrain Authority for culture & Antiquities, shedding light on the importance of world heritage and the need for museums that reflect the exceptional value of this heritage.  The anniversary celebration will also entertain the audience with a movie screening, which was produced by the Arab Regional Center for World Heritage, displaying symbolic aspects and characteristics of Qala’at al Bahrain Site, and exceptional video footage and clips shot with the latest and most advanced photo production tools.   

Indeed,   Qal’at al Bahrain Site Museum Site, stands as one of the most important cultural symbols in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and seeks to maintain the ancient historic features of the site, as well as to document the archaeological periods by preserving the artefacts discovered at the site, “ Qal’at al-Bahrain – Ancient Harbour and Capital of Dilmun” and the first Bahraini registered UNESCO’s World Heritage List site. Qal’at al Bahrain Site Museum Site, represents an iconic symbol of the importance of the archaeological site, and seeks to maintain the ancient historic features of the site, as well as to document the archaeological periods by preserving the artefacts discovered at the site. The site museum overlooks the northern coast of the kingdom of Bahrain, with all its beautiful natural landscape, in complete harmony with the marine environment and the area’s green belt.
