H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, received her office, on June 13th, 2021, His Excellency Eng. Essam Bin Abdullah Khalaf, Minister of Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning, in the presence of representatives from both sides. During the meeting, both sides discussed work developments in a number of joint projects and ways to enhance cooperation to enhance the cultural infrastructure in the Kingdom of Bahrain

During the meeting, H.E underlined the need for integrated roles and concerted efforts to preserve Bahrain's cultural and civilizational achievements through various projects, such as the restoration of the visual identity of the Manama Municipality building. Indeed, H.E stressed the importance of developing and rehabilitating the beautiful architectural elements and unique features of this historical building, its gorgeous singular visual identity, and its impact on reviving sweet memories of a lovely place. The meeting also shed lights on efforts made to develop the spatial venue of Manama Industrial Secondary School building, which is considered a brilliant educational icon, and rehabilitate its historical cultural landmark, as it stands as the symbol of historical and universal proof, but also witness to one of the most developed creative industries. H.E added that Bahrain Culture Authority would rehabilitate and re-accommodate the building units of the Industrial School Manama to become the headquarters’ main ’venue hosting the creative industries.

In addition, the meeting reviewed the latest works developments with regard to upgrading and development of Shaikh Hamad and Shaikh Abdullah streets in the historical city of Muharraq. H.E has pointed out, during this meeting, the need to improve the visual and aesthetic identity of these streets, which will form the core platform unique experience interaction between residents and visitors and a final complementary piece of an amazing identity of a genuine city Pearling Path project, scheduled to be completed this year.

The meeting also discussed the status and situation of “Historical Schools” in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and how the integrated roles and concerted efforts deployed by all the concerned authorities will certainly contribute to the rise and shine of these historical landmarks. In fact, restoring and regaining the main functional roles of these schools would add value to its pioneering historical educational achievements in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
