H.E Shaikha Mai Pays a Visit to Academic and Writer’s Ibrahim Ghuloom’s House coinciding with World Theater day

 

Coinciding with World Theatre Day, Her Excellency Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, visited the Bahraini critic, writer, author and academic Professor Ibrahim Abdullah Ghuloom residence, on 27 March 2021, attended by Her Excellency Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director General of Culture and Arts at the Authority. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Qassim Haddad, Mr. Ahmed Al-Mannai, Mr. Ibrahim Buhindi, Mr. Hassan Al-Jalahma, Dr. Nader Kadhim, and family members.

Speaking for the occasion, H.E said: “Theater, which is the father of arts, has its lovers and creative talents, and culture, as citadel of all forms of artistic expressions, has always   paid tribute to theatrical art and its prominent playwrights and dramatists, honoring their literary and intellectual brilliant achievements that have always played a crucial role in the development of refined societies”. In addition, H.E lauded Dr. Ghuloom’s creative writings of dramatic material for the purposes of performance within the theatre, and how he has enriched the Arab libraries with his scripts for creating a dramatic production, his influential studies, stories and theater referential articles and books. H.E wished him health, joy and resilience in carrying on his academic and artistic career.

Worth to mention that Dr. Ibrahim Abdullah Ghuloom started his first playwright scripts in the early 1970s, publishing a series of studies in short stories’ critics, theater, novel and heritage folklore, as well as cultural and intellectual studies. Professor of modern criticism & narratology, he holds PhD from the University of Tunisia, 1983, awarded Proficiency Medal (First Degree) presented by His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa, May God Protect Him, in 2012,  GCC Creative Talents Medal in 2012, Bahrain Book Award (2013).  Dr. Ibrahim Ghuloom won the prize with his book entitled “Distance and Critical Awareness Production: Ahmed Al-Mannai and the New Literary Movement” by Bahrain’s Culture Ministry.

Noteworthy that World Theatre Day was initiated in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute ITI. It is celebrated annually on the 27th  March by ITI Centers and the international theatre community. Ever since, each year on the 27th  March (date of the opening of the 1962 "Theatre of Nations" season in Paris), World Theatre Day has been celebrated in many and varied ways by ITI Centers. It is celebrated to raise the importance of theatre arts, how they played an important role in the field of entertainment, and the changes that theatre brings in life. The goals of World Theatre Day are o promote theatre in all its forms across the world, to make people aware of the value of theatre in all its forms and  to enable theatre communities to promote their work on a broad scale and to enjoy theatre in all its forms for its own sake.
