After Being Awarded Carthage’s International Monodrama Performances Festival Third Prize Winner, BACA’s Culture & Arts Director-General Congratulates “Gilgamesh Theater”

 

Her Excellency Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director General of Culture and Arts at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, sent her sincere congratulations messages to “Gilgamesh Theatre after being awarded Third Prize winner at Carthage International Monodrama festival in its Third Edition.  The “Festival International des Monodrames de Carthage” was held from the 25th to the 28th of March 2021 in the Tunisian capital, Tunis.

 H.E Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa said: “I received, with heartfelt emotions, the good news of Bahraini theatre successful competition award, which shows how marvelously they performed and demonstrated their creative talents capable of international prestigious prize winning. Indeed, it clearly indicates the depth and maturity of the local experience that has accumulated over several generations." H.E added, "We would like to congratulate the Gilgamesh Theatre and all its members for winning the bronze medal at the Festival International des Monodrames de Carthage,” and H.E asserted the full support of   the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities for national theater groups in order to continue their bright cultural and artistic achievements.

The “Gilgamesh Theatre was awarded Third Prize winner by the festival committee after competing with five Arab countries, culminating with a bronze medal for the unique theater piece “ Wojood” ( Existence) by playwright Dr. Kadhim Moanes, and produced by Jamal Al-Gheelan, staring artist, Reem Wannoos. 

 Worth to mention that Carthage International Monodrama festival in its Third Edition welcomed Morocco as the guest of honor, and featured many Arab theater companies from Bahrain, Iraq, Palestine, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria, Libya and Algeria. In addition, The Festival committee honored Dr. Abdel Karim Berrechid, from Morocco, Nasser Shamma from Iraq and the late artist, Sharh-al-bal Abdulhadi from Libya. The “Festival International des Monodrames de Carthage” is centered around monodrama art, which is  a  most difficult theatrical art form to achieve,  with specific concept and own nature,  made, written, designed, or acted by a single person, usually portraying one character.
