The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities is organizing, on 6 October 2021, a lecture shedding light on the “Long Journey of Hope to Re-union: Illustrated and Documented History of Shaikh Hamad Causeway” presented by Dr. Nader Kadhem at 6:00 pm at the Pearling Visitor Center. 

 Bahrain Culture Authority would like to inform the public that to assure the safety of everyone, and to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, please observe the following precautionary measures while attending this event. Therefore, only fully vaccinated audience or have totally recovered from Corona virus will be allowed to attend the lecture.  Proof of both must be provided by presenting the green shield via the “BeAware” application. Please wear masks and keep appropriate social distancing.

The lecture reviews the illustrated and documented history of the first-built modern bridge in the history of Bahrain, namely Shaikh Hamad Causeway that links Muharraq Island with the city of Manama. The lecture displays visual sources and archive documents that illustrate this dream project since its inception, then the multiple modifications that it underwent in the 1960s, until the present time’s retouches.

Worth to mention that Dr. Nader Kadhim is a Bahraini academic, writer and cultural critique, author to many literature and cultural criticism articles and studies published in Bahraini and Arabic media. Between 2003 and 2013, he has published nine books; two of them earning the "Bahraini Outstanding Book" award in 2003 for his book titled “and in “ Al-Hamadhani Maqams and the Reader’s Receptive Interpretations” and  2004 for his book titled “Representations of the Other”, a  creative and provocative introduction into the theoretical humanities and humanistic social sciences. Since the early 1990s, Kadhim has shown increasing interest in the critical theory and cultural studies, has participated in many cultural forums and meetings in Bahrain and abroad. He has written many articles in Bahraini and Arab newspapers, published many studies in periodicals, in addition to his diversified publications.
