The Art Center hosted the first solo exhibition for Palestinian Artist Areen Hassan in Bahrain entitled “BY AREEN”, which was inaugurated on September 8^th 2021.  H.E Shikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities attended the opening ceremony, in the presence of His Excellency, the Palestinian Ambassador to Bahrain, Taha Abdulqader.

 Visitors can enjoy exhibition held at the Art Center, which is open daily from 8am to 8pm, and the exhibition continues until the 8th of October 2021. The Culture Authority would like to inform the public that only vaccinated individuals and individuals recovered from COVID-19 can visit the exhibition in accordance with the precautionary health measures aimed to protect culture lovers on the Kingdom of Bahrain.   Proof of both must be provided by presenting the green shield via the “BeAware” application.

Palestinian artist and designer Areen Hassan’s work engages with Islamic art as a living art that endlessly sculpts daily life by drawing on the embroidery, a tradition from the Levant region, modernizing and enhancing the methods by playing with technologies and multimedia.  Her aim is to go beyond the visual perception of Islamic art to investigate an embodied participatory language through which it is represented. Her work blurs the boundaries between humans and objects in a totality that brings forth the vibrancy and harmony of Islamic art. The combination of materials, colors, shapes, orientation, and patterns in a composition which enables the viewer to observe the work as an embodied universe of symbolic meaning, often showing a concern with our life path.

 Dubai -based artist and designer, Areen Hassan exhibited her unique and exceptional art works in many world-renowned at galleries, such as “International Talente Exhibition” in Munich, Germany, and at the International Tapestry Triennial exhibition in the Central Museum of Textiles, Lodz, Poland and ‘World Art Dubai’ exhibition in Dubai, UAE
