Professor Robert Carter sheds the light on historical archaeology along the Pearling Path next Wednesday

The Bahrain National Museum lectures series continue, where professor Robert Carter from the British archeological mission to Bahrain will speak next Wednesday, 15th of September 2021, about the historical archaeology along the Pearling Path site in Muharraq.  

The lecture is organized as part of the BNT series dedicated to the latest archeological findings in Bahrain. It will take place at 5:00 pm via Zoom, and the public can register to attend by filling out the form on the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities’ website (www.culture.gov.bh). 

The lecture will shed the light on the archaeological excavations that were undertaken by the Archeology Directorate and Oxford Brookes University at Suq Qayseriyyah and its surroundings, and at Bu Maher Fort, which revealed important properties for the Pearling Path site, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2012, The results of these efforts enriched the nomination file of the site to the World Heritage list and the content of the Path, and increased the understanding of the pearling industry and Bahrain's role in it. 

The lectures series will continue with researcher Mustafa Salman of the BACA team, who will highlight the results of the excavations in ancient mound located in Mr. Abdullah Juma’s farm in Maqabah On September 22. The series will conclude on September 29 with Dr. Masashi Abe of the Japanese archaeological mission, who will talk about the archaeological project being carried out in Wadi Al-Sail.
