The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities has announce that it submissions are now open for the 48th Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition. Applicants, whether, Bahraini nationals or residents in Bahrain, are requested to submit their applications before 1 December 2021. Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition is scheduled to be held at the beginning of next year.
The exhibition sheds lights this year on the theme of beauty and how like a sunflower represents our skin in an unscripted way that we have yet to see in our community art shows and exhibitions, creating a unique viewing experience and shining a light on the stories of beauty and strength in all shades of our skin. The exhibition, representing an opportunity to highlight different schools of thought, artists are invited present all forms of artworks, such as painting, photography, graphics, video arts and installation in order to evoke freely and instigate a dialogue about pluralism and artistic visions, experiences and expressions.
Artists planning to participate in this major annual art event have to meet certain conditions and requirements to get the final approval from the Selection & Admission Committee. First Applicants must be Bahraini nationals or residents in Bahrain and above the age of 18, and that their artworks must be authentic, with a maximum dimensions estimated at of 2x2x2m.
In addition, details of the presented artwork have to be attached, including dimensions and sizes, as well as any additional details regarding the installation method description; full description/sketches of the work (taking into considerations scales and ratios), specifying area needed and material used, as well as exhibiting requirements (electricity, lights, etc..).
Every artist must submit a collection of three artworks (ensuring cohesiveness), except installation artists. The Selection & Admission Committee has the discretion to accept or refuse any presented artwork.
Artists may submit their applications for participation in the 48th Annual Fine Arts Exhibition, only by filling in the online form on Bahrain’s Authority of Culture and Antiquities’ website at www.culture.gov.bh. Every year Bahrain Annual Fine Arts honors the winners with valuable awards; the first prize winner will receive Al-Danah Award, a BHD6,000 cash prize, designed by the artist Khalil Al Hashemi. The second prizewinner will be given the opportunity to host a solo exhibition at the Art Centre, with all expenses paid, and the third place winner will be offered a two-week external artist-in-residence
