Bahrain National Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020 Records 1 Million Visitors, The expo will continue until end of March

The Kingdom of Bahrain National Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai Expo 2020, held under the theme “Density Weaves Opportunities” has made a new brilliant record achievement when it attracted, on 14 March 2022, a million visitors out of 17 million visitors of the expo until last week.

The Bahrain Pavilion at the Expo, designed by Christian Kerez Zurich AG, challenges traditional notions of architecture and offers visitors a unique experience, as it consists of an open and slightly submerged space on the site accessed by a ramp that creates a transition between the outside and the inside world of the pavilion. The interior is made of 126 steel columns with a diameter of 11cm and 24m in height that intersect occasionally throughout the height of the space.

The pavilion is likely to be the most well integrated project at the current Expo where architecture, interior, and exhibition all come into singular unity. Although seemingly randomly cut with long thin windows, each punctured by a short portion of a sticking pipe, the exterior may not suggest what could possibly await on the inside, it is intriguing just enough to want to discover what’s inside the cube the viewer of the pavilion from the outside cannot guess what it contains from the inside, but as soon as one enters it, a visual and sensory experience is launched with distinction. The exhibitions, installation works, the gift shop and the cafe are all intertwined in the master plan and present in one open space, mimicking the interconnectedness of what Among the various cultural components that flourish on the land of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the freedom that visitors enjoy in experiencing space and their movement in this space, reflects the many forms of cultural expression enjoyed by the Kingdom of Bahrain, and this experience differs completely from one person to another.

With only a few weeks left for Expo 2020 Dubai, Bahrain’s National Pavilion at Expo, “Density Weaves Opportunity”, open until the end of March 2022 continues its activities in promoting the civilizational, cultural and economic elements that make the Kingdom a promising center for investment and development opportunities. The pavilion hosts presently the "Sustainable Cities" exhibition, which presents works that combine palm fronds and recycled plastic, providing visitors with a unique experience about efforts to safeguard heritage and Bahraini traditional crafts, as well as achieving sustainability by recycling materials and using them in contemporary works of art. At the other end of the pavilion, The “Narrating Histories” exhibition continues boasting the rich heritage history of Bahrain, as many of these traditions, Bahrainis keep legends and stories alive today. It also presents an exhibition entitled “The Dilmun Cabinet of Curiosities: Interwoven Stories”. The exhibition consists of various artworks depicting four separate stories based on the ancient civilization of Dilmun, whose capital and center was in the Kingdom of Bahrain thousands of years ago. During the Craftsmen Apprenticeship Training Program held within the Kingdom’s pavilion at Expo, the artist collaborated with many artisans and designers in Bahrain to create these works inspired by four stories - The Story of Enki and Ninhursag, The Epic of Gilgamesh, The Story of Ilí-ippašra and his Daughter, and The Story of Tiamat.
