H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, received in her office on Monday, March 7, 2022, Mr. Khalid Rashid Al Zayani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Businessmen Association, and Mrs. Sarah Carter, the daughter of the British archaeologist who worked in Bahrain, Major John Carter.
During the meeting, Mrs. Carter donated her father’s documents, manuscripts and books that he possessed when he was working in the Kingdom in the 1960s. These documents and books document the excavation works done by the Danish Archaeological Mission in Bahrain during that period.
H.E Shaikha Mai thanked Mrs. Sarah Carter for presenting a set of documents that immortalize the memory and efforts of those working to unveil the historical heritage treasures in Bahrain. In addition, H.E highlighted the importance of pioneering excavation archaeological missions in Bahrain, which contributed to introducing the world to the ancient civilizations that flourished in the Kingdom for thousands of years.
For her part, Mrs. Carter thanked the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, praised its efforts to highly value and appreciate her father's constructive archaeological endeavors in the Kingdom, lauding Bahrain’s cultural status and its position as a lighthouse of historical civilizational epicenter.
