The Curtain Falls on European Film Nights at Bahrain National Museum

After successful amazing three days, curtain fell on the European Film Nights, which was held for the first time in Bahrain on 29 May 202, at the Bahrain National Museum. The closing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Ambassador Patrick Simonet, the head of the European Union delegation to Bahrain, residing in Riyadh, Ambassador, as well as a number of high-ranking diplomatic personalities and many culture and arts lovers in Bahrain.

Indeed, the Delegation of the European Union, in cooperation with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, the French Embassy, has organised the “European Film Nights” in Bahrain between the 26 and 29 of May. This was the first time such European film event organised in the Kingdom of Bahrain, aiming at facilitating cultural exchange and promoting European cinema. Films from France, Germany, Greece, Italy and Slovakia participated in the nights. This event aims to facilitate cultural exchange between Bahrain and the various European Union countries and to enhance the European cinema presence in the Kingdom.

The last film that was screened was les “PERFUMES” (LES PARFUMS) by Gregory Magne (2019) (France). The European Film Nights started with a screening of six short films that shed light on the climate change crisis. The movies were “GEO-Engineering” by Yannick Stark (2020), “Hungry Seagull” by Leon Wang (2019), “Kokota: the Islet of Hope” by Craig Norris (2016), “OLMO” by Silvio Soldini (2019), “ Tant de Forêts” by Burku Sankur and Geoffrey Godet (2014), “ THERMOSTAT 6” by Maya Av-Ron, Mylène Cominotti, Marion Coudert, Sixtine Dano (2018). A discussion on the short films, moderated by the Bahrain Cinema Club, followed the screenings.

In addition, on 27 May 2002, a great movie was screened, namely “SISTERS APART” (IM FEUER) by Daphne Charizani (Germany, Greece), while on 28 May, there was another movie, “San Remo by Miroslav Mandic (Slovenja/Italy).
