Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), cooperation with Al Eman Private School, organizing “Creative Drama” workshop on 4 June, 2022, at the Flexi-Theater, Bahrain national Theater. The workshop will be presented and conducted by Hadeel Hamdoon, Al-Eman Private School Learning Resources Specialist, from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm. 18 years-old and above participants wishing to take part in the workshop are required to register in advance on BACA’s portal www.culture.gov.bh
The workshop will focus on five main themes: Introduction to creative drama, Explaining the role of the story in character- building personality and behavioral guidance, the charisma of the storyteller, the most important techniques of storytelling (interactive exercises) and storytelling methods. The workshop targets people who are passionate about storytelling, dealing with children, and how to access their magic world full of imagination, love and exploration.
In addition, the workshop aims to introduce participants to the art of storytelling, which requires mastering the skills of creative drama. Creative drama is a type of theater used for educational purposes that helps children work on social skills and academic subjects using theater games and improvisations while being led by a trained instructor. It provides a safe environment for students to explore behavior, ideas, creativity, and school subjects. A new revolutionary method that enables children to acquire educational and social valuesby simplifying and bringing concepts closer to their minds via improvisational scene acting.
Indeed, it is considered an effective way to stimulate an imaginary world without being restricted to a written text through education. By playing a series of interactive activities under the guidance of the story narrator and employing role-playing methods, improvisation, imagination, gesture and movement. Ultimately, creative drama is an out-of-the-box approach to learning that engages imagination, concentration, and sensory awareness in a theater environment. In fact, it integrates physical and mental activity without using many theatrical techniques represented by decoration and clothing, and provides an opportunity for children to imagine, meditate, acting to overcome their of shyness. Indeed, it is the perfect tool help them build confidence and come out of their shells, develop their speech, communication and presentation skills.
