H.E Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, participated on 26 October, 2022, in the twenty-sixth meeting of Their Highnesses and Excellencies, Ministers of Culture of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh., Saudi Arabia.
Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Ministers expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to their Majesties and Highnesses, the Leaders of the GCC states, for supporting the process of cultural work in GCC states and for their generous guidance in the 42nd session of the Respected Supreme Council.
In addition, the meeting discussed the recommendations of the preparatory meeting of the Undersecretaries of Culture in the Gulf Cooperation Council. On the sidelines of the meeting, a special event was held to honor key figures, personalities, specialists and researchers in the fields of literary, cultural and artistic arts. The Kingdom of Bahrain had nominated Mr. Hassan Salman Muhammad Kamal to be honored for his outstanding contributions in literature and arts, together with Ms. Aisha Khalifa Matar, who excelled in in the field of handicrafts and traditional industries.
During the meeting, the Ministers discussed what has been implemented with regard to the cultural strategy of the GCC countries 2020-2030, and they reviewed plans for joint cultural events, in addition to what has been achieved with regard to international cooperation in the cultural field. The Ministers also took the appropriate decisions with regard to other topics, proposals and visions that would support the process of joint GCC cultural work.
Moreover, the 26th meeting of Their Highnesses and Excellencies Ministers of Culture in the Gulf Cooperation Council states addressed a set of common Gulf cultural files; the annual plan for cultural events and activities, and bylaws and regulations for joint cultural work and international cooperation in the cultural field. Following up on the implementation of the decisions issued by the 25th meeting of Ministers of Culture in the GCC countries was also addressed.
