In cooperation with the Japanese Embassy in Bahrain, The Bahrain National Museum Hosts Japan Film Festival
As part of the 17th edition of Spring of Culture Festival, the Bahrain National Museum hosted the launch of the Japanese Film Festival, on 15 February 2023, in the presence of His Excellency the Japanese Ambassador to Bahrain, Mr. Miyamoto Masayuki, and a number of those interested in cultural affairs in Bahrain.
The Japanese Film Festival features two different screenings selected from the Japanese Film Library, with English subtitles. The first of which was shown is a movie entitled Destiny: The Tale of Kamakura (2017) by Takashi Yamazaki, which is based on the best-selling comics by Saigan Ryohi. “Destiny: The Tale of Kamakura” portrays a lovely romantic tale, remarking that by doing respectable deeds there is always a positive result. In addition to this main story, the creatures of Kamakura reveal relevant information that offers the main protagonist vital information.
The second film, it will be screened on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 6:00 pm in the auditorium of the Bahrain National Museum. Based on the manga by Hiroyuki Ohashi, On-Gaku: Our Sound was hand-drawn over rotoscoped footage and animated over the course of seven years by director Kenji Iwaisawa and a small team of amateur animators, making it truly worthy of the term “indie. It is based on the original story by Ohashi Hiroyuki. The film's director, Goisawa Kenji, spent seven years hand-drawn more than 40,000 shots, and won the Grand Prix for Animation at the 43rd Ottawa International Animation Festival.
