The Archaeologies of Green Pavilion in Muharraq hosted the inauguration ceremony of the “Bahrain” issue edited by the international architecture magazine Archithese, based in Zurich, Switzerland. The ceremony was held in the presence of Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Director of the National Heritage Directorate at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, members of the magazine’s editorial board, namely Kellmann Huberts Adam and Nelly Rickman, along with the magazine editors, and a number of architects and those interested in the cultural matters of Bahrain.
Indeed, this issue of the magazine aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the architectural movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain between the past and the present, with a focus on the city of Muharraq and the buildings located on the Pearling Path site, which is registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The magazine includes between its covers articles on the urban history of Bahrain, recent development projects in Muharraq, and interviews with important personalities, accompanied by a display of photographs that give the reader a deeper idea of Bahraini architecture when browsing this issue.
worth to mention that every year, the magazine allocates an issue to only one country, and it chose the Kingdom of Bahrain, given its approach to preserving the genuine urban and historical heritage, while adopting contemporary architectural elements and engineering foundations centered on local heritage that bear at the same time strong and modern feature. Indeed, a copy of the magazine can be obtained through the Bahrain National Museum gift shop and the Qal'at al-Bahrain Site Museum gift shop. It is worth mentioning that “Arthithese” is an international journal from Zurich that periodically publishes publications related to architecture, urban planning and theoretical materials related to urban architecture. “Archithese is an international journal and Series Architecture, Urban Design and Theory, based in Zurich. It was founded in 1971 by Stanislaus von Moos and Hans Reinhard.
