The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities held, on 10 January 2023, at the Art Center a heartfelt exhibition opening. The first solo exhibition by talented Bahraini artist Mohammed Taqi, entitled “Whispers”, was inaugurated in the presence of His Excellency Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Culture Authority, a number of plastic artists from Bahrain and those interested in cultural affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Indeed, the exhibition “Whispers” will run until 24 January 2023 and will open to the public daily from 9:00am-8:00 pm.
Artist Mohammed Taqi employs a bold color palette and an impressionistic style to give his oeuvres a presence that captures the essence of tranquility while unveiling a vivid interior world. The medium he mainly works with is acrylics, however he also works with oils, mixed media, charcoal and pencil that the visitor can attest.
The young talented artist, Mohammed Taqi who received his LLB in Law from Northumbria University, United Kingdom, hopes his paintings could give a feeling of “optimism and life” through his canvases bright, fresh colors and form. In his work, Mohamed tries to achieve a sense of expressionism and spirituality, this appears in his abstract work where he prefers to use bold visual strokes to express emotions, the variety use of compositions, lines, shapes, colors light or dark depends on the subject and general mood.
From an early age, Mohamed had a genuine interest in art, developing d his artistic skills by observing the works of Bahraini artists such as Abdulla Al Muharraqi who had a major contribution in developing Mohamed’s skills in sketching, drawing and painting. He was influenced by his traditional portraits, which portray Bahrainis daily life. A self-taught artist, he was then trained by several Bahraini artists. Currently, he attends lectures and workshops by the international French artist and critique Inayat Attar continuing his lessons in the French city of Angers.
