The 49th edition of Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition will continue to showcase at the Bahrain National Museum until July 10, whereby art lovers can see the latest creations of the plastic art movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain, by visiting the exhibition during the museum’s official opening times.
This year's Fine Arts Exhibition was not limited to presenting works that explore the present and future of the plastic art movement in the Kingdom, but instead, light on recognizing and appreciating the achievements of one of the most prominent pioneers of the sculptural movement in Bahrain, the late Bahraini artist and sculptor Khalil Al Hashemi.
In addition, the late artist was paid honor and tribute when the exhibition dedicated a major part of it to displaying a group of the most important works and sculptures of Al-Hashemi. The annual event also displayed artworks from the last decade of his career as the sculptor who was behind the design of the Dana Award, which is awarded to the artist who won first place in the exhibition for the last time this year.
There is no doubt that Al-Hashemi’s artworks were characterized by abstraction and the ability to transcend cultural and linguistic barriers, which led to his production of iconic works. In addition, his design for the Al Dana Award, which was awarded every year to the first winner of the exhibition, reinforced the exceptional value of the award and its recipients. Moreover, Al Hashemi's latest works and private projects are featured in this exhibition, in addition to works of art, sculptures, and gold ornaments borrowed from the Devji Aurum Jewelry House, which take the form of designs inspired by the work of the late artist.
Worth to mention that the Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition 49 continues to present its exhibits to the visiting public, with a wide range of artistic participation from 55 Bahraini artists and residents presenting more than 100 works of art in the exhibition halls. Indeed, ranging from paintings, sculptures, installation works, photography, video and other forms of artistic expression that include various raw materials and techniques and belong to various international technical school, Bahrain National Museum engulfs creativity and embraces everlasting quest for refined art and culture elements.
