The Archaeologies of Green Pavilion in Muharraq hosted last weekend the second event organized by “Muharraq Supper Club” initiative, held as part of 17th edition of the Spring of Culture Festival. Indeed, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities offered the lovers of culture a unique tasting experience, as the attendees had a date with a group of authentic Bahraini flavors that reflect the importance of Bahraini cuisine as part of the Intangible cultural heritage of Bahrain.
In addition, “Muharraq Supper Club” this time welcomed its audience amid a modern contemporary café atmosphere, whereby the dishes were masterminded and prepared by the Bahraini chef Yousif Qamber. The talented Chef presented his dishes as street food recipes in the middle of “Archaeologies of Green” pavilion in the heart of the historic city of Muharraq, whereby the dishes reflected Qamber’s inspiration of diversity, ancient history and the city’s cultural historical importance.
In addition, the menu varied to include contemporary and traditional dishes at the same time and were inspired by well-known popular dishes in Bahrain: such as tikka, samboosas and kibbeh, but Chef Qamber mixed them with contemporary techniques and used parts of well-known international dishes. As for the ingredients and flavors, most of them belong to the Bahraini cuisine: black lemon (loomi), coriander, fresh vegetables, meat, shrimp, pomegranate and many others.
Worth to mention that “Muharraq Supper Club” initiative will be held during the months of February and March. The pioneering culinary experience aims to introduce the public in the Kingdom of Bahrain to the richness and diversity of the traditional Bahraini cuisine, which is one of the features of the Intangible cultural heritage of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
