With a series of musical melodies concert that highlighted the rich tapestry of Bahraini folk music, Dar Al-Riffa Al-Ouda Music Band animated the Bab Al-Bahrain area with the beauty of the Bahraini lyrical and musical heritage. This came during a ceremony organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities to conclude the activities of the weekly cultural program “From the Post”, on Saturday, March 11, 2023. Indeed, the event brought the curtain down on six weeks of amazing cultural events that gave the public, citizens and residents, the opportunity to explore the historical city of Manama, its ancient heritage, and its aesthetic, urban and cultural details.
Indeed, every Saturday, since last February 4th, and from morning until evening, the participants in the "From the Post" activities were on a date with various activities starting from the Manama Post Museum. The activities varied between workshops for children, exploratory tours of Manama on foot and riding bicycles and electric bikes, tasting experiences, dialogue sessions with public figures and specialists, and folklore evenings.
Noteworthy that among the most important activities presented by the “From the Post” initiative was the transformation of the balcony of the Manama Post office, which directly overlooks Bab Al Bahrain, into a space for spontaneous meeting by hosting the specialized café “The Dot”. Henceforth, offering customers and visitors various types of coffee drinks throughout the period between 4 February until 11 March. In addition, several other events were also held in cooperation with private entities in Bahrain, such as Manama Laboratory, Bahrain E-Scooter and Kashta Tours.
In addition, Bahrain Culture initiative aimed to diversify the activities and encompass all aspects of the historic city of Manama, by choosing a theme and a main focal point each week for the “From the Post” program, reflecting the content of the events presented. The first week, for example, highlighted the authentic “Architectural Heritage” and focused on exploring the architectural styles of Manama and the city's urban and heritage beauty and authentic culture. The second week, however, spotlighted another culinary tradition of the city. Baptized as “Manama Food”, it offered participants delightful tasting dishes full of flavors and what distinguishes Manama from local and international cuisines and tasting experiences. As for the third week, it focused on “ Bahraini Gold, and gave the audience an idea about gold designs in the Kingdom, the gold market in Manama, and the details of this craft rooted in Bahrain's heritage.
Themed as “Fashion", the Fourth Week of “ From the Post initiative, introduced traditional costumes and garments, concentrated in the historic Manama market. As for the fifth week of the postal event, it was titled “Commercial Activities”, as it shed light on the commercial activity in the city and its abundance of various shops and markets. The conclusion of the activities took place in the sixth week on March 11, under the title “The Urban Fabric of the City”, and it included field tours to learn about the visual heritage of Furjan (neighborhoods) of Manama and the ancient traditions and customs practiced there in relation to the history and authenticity of the city.
