To mark the Community Partnership and Belonging to the Nation Day, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities honored a number of community members who live alongside archaeological sites around the Kingdom of Bahrain and cooperate with the Authority within the “Community Partnership- Friends of Antiquities” initiative. Celebrating this occasion, H.E Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities received the local community members and congratulated them for their remarkable efforts, civic behaviors, and national sense of belonging and pride.
Indeed, the honoring ceremony clearly reflects BACA’s keen to value high the efforts made by the local community its members cooperation to enhance the safeguard and preservation of heritage and archaeological sites. H.E Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa said that the Culture Authority seeks to involve the local community and all stakeholders in efforts to preserve the antiquities and national heritage of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in accordance with the best international standards and guidelines approved by international organizations such as UNESCO. In addition, H.E praised the role of the people living next to the archaeological sites in Bahrain and their awareness of antiquities, stressing that the Culture Authority puts community partnership in this field at the top of its priorities.
Worth to mention that the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities launched the initiative "Community Partnership- Friends of Antiquities" last year with the aim of enhancing the spirit of cooperation and joint work with the local community to preserve the Bahraini archaeological heritage. In fact, the initiative included a number of events that witnessed great interaction from the public and the people and helped protect a large number of archaeological and heritage sites.
