The Culture Authority Congratulates Famous Artist Khaled Al-Shaikh for Winning the Best Creative Musical Work Award on the sidelines of 27th session of the Arab Music Academy of the League of Arab States held in Oman

Another distinguished bright new achievement is added to the glory of the music and artistic movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This came after the distinguished Bahraini artist, Khalid Al-Shaikh, won on 14 March 2023, the prestigious Arab Music Academy Award of the League of Arab States, on the sidelines of the activities of the General Conference of the Society in its 27th session, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Madinah Al Irfan, in the Sultanate of Oman.

Indeed, nominated by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities in 2020 for the Award in the Musical Work category, the renowned Bahraini artist Khaled Al-Shaikh won the Academy Award in the Musical Work category for the year 2020 for his entire works and compositions in the field of Arabic music

Speaking for this occasion, H.E Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Culture Authority, congratulated artist Khalid Al-Shaikh, stressing that the Bahraini artist today not only contributes to shaping the local cultural movement, but also works to build the Arab artistic and creative movement. In addition, H.E praised the distinguished long artistic career of the artist, Khaled Al-Shaikh, and his creative compositions that have been passed from generation to generation and remain anchored in the public's conscience and memory.

Worth to mention that the ceremony was sponsored by His Highness Sayyid Kamel bin Fahd Al Said, Secretary General of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers in the Sultanate of Oman, in the presence of Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, President of the Arab Music Societ, along with of members and representatives of Arab countries at the Arab Music Academy and a number of those concerned with music affairs.

In addition, the General Conference of the Arab Music Academy, in 27th edition, discussed a series number of of projects and activities, most notably the continuation of the issuance of the periodical journal of music research. They also discussed the issuance of a monthly magazine of Arabic electronic music, and the generalization of the celebration of Arab Music Day on March 28 of each year in memory of the first conference of Arab music that was held on the same date. Moreover, the Academy also shed light on the proposal for the theme of the Academy’s competition in Arab musical composition for the year 2023.
