As part of its leading role to spread book-reading mentality among all social categories and classes, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, keen to enhance literary and intellectual scene in the Kingdom of Bahrain, took part in the 2023 Riyadh International Book Fair.

The International 10-day book fair, which opened on Sept. 28 and will continue until Oct. 7 is being held at King Saud University under the slogan “An Inspiring Destination.” Hundreds of publishing companies and libraries from around the world are displaying their expansive collections of books of all genres.

The Culture Authority’s participation in the exhibition comes as part of its work to promote and support writers and creators in Bahrain, through various initiatives that include supporting cultural and literary associations, organizing intensive events aimed at paying attention to Bahraini writers and Bahraini publications, and supplying the National and Arab Library with their intellectual, literary, poetic, and other creativity.

This pavilion highlights a collection of the latest releases from the "Joint Publishing" project, featuring works by Bahraini authors and writers. It also presents books that delve into subjects related to heritage, literature, art, history, archaeology and more. The participation of the Culture Authority in this exhibition aligns with its mission to promote and support Bahraini writers and intellectuals, alongside various other initiatives that are part of its annual activities.

Stretching on an area of over 46,000 square metres, this year’s edition of the book fair emerges as the Arab world’s biggest in terms of cultural diversity and activities tailored to cater to different age groups, with the Sultanate of Oman as a Guest of Honor.

More than 1,800 publishing houses from 32 countries around the world are showcasing their latest publications and titles at the Riyadh International Book Fair 2023, with major sidelines events, most importantly is he International Publishers Conference, which will examine the reality of the publishing industry in the Arab world and seeks to develop it to reach internationally competitive levels
