Muharraq Nights Festival 3: A Prime Family-Friendly Cultural Destination in the Heart of the Historic City

Muharraq Nights, now in its third edition, continues its festivities as part of Celebrate Bahrain 2024, transforming the historic streets of Muharraq along the Pearling Path into an ideal destination for all ages. The festival offers a unique blend of heritage, creativity, arts, music, and culinary experiences, making it a must-visit event this season.

This year, the festival dedicates a large portion of its activities to children, with a wide range of arts and crafts workshops and recreational activities designed to spark their imagination and hone their skills. Notable venues hosting these activities are the Children’s Creativity Hub at the Pearling Path Visitor Centre, Sophia Bookstore at Suq Al Qaysariyyah, and Suq Barahat Fakhro. Additional events include sand art performances and the Prints of Bahrain workshop, which focuses on Bahraini themes through printmaking.

Culinary experiences are a must at the festival, with cafes and food stops spread across the Pearling Path, offering an array of Bahraini and international flavours each evening. At Qal’at Bu Mahir, Lumee will be open until 17th December, while SALT will be available until the end of the month. For those seeking a taste of Muharraq's historic charm, dining options in historic houses include Depart at Murad House and OZ Café at Fakhro House. Cultural Activation Houses such as Higher Grounds Cafe and The Good Wolf Eatery at Dar Amana, as well as Bait Nasser, offer a variety of unique culinary experiences of Bahraini flavours with a modern twist.

Coffee lovers will find plenty of cafes to choose from along the Pearling Path, such as Sophia Bookstore Café, Quin Café at Maison Jamsheer (Centre Culturel Franco-Bahreïnien), Al Layali Cafe at Al Khashn Square, and Integrale Cafe at Al Dana Square. For those wishing to sample authentic Bahraini cuisine, there are various local favourites, such as Bu Khalaf Coffee Shop, Raazji at House of Coffee, and more.

The festival also offers a range of public venues in Muharraq, such as Suq Nights (II), Suq Block 213, Suq Barahat Fakhro, and Siyadi Shops, where visitors can enjoy a selection of cafes, restaurants, and stalls.
In addition to shopping and dining experiences, the festival provides a rich cultural programme, with musical evenings and art performances held in the open squares and historic houses along the Pearling Path. The diverse programme also includes family-friendly tours, where visitors can discover the tales of ancient houses along the path.

Muharraq Nights continue daily until 30th December, from 5 PM to 10 PM Sunday to Wednesday, and from 5 PM to midnight Thursday to Saturday. The programme offers a wide range of events in the fields of arts, music, and cultural activities, including tours, workshops for all ages, film screenings, shops, as well as culinary experiences. Events are held across various venues along the 3.5-kilometre Pearling Path.
For the first time, all the houses along the path will open their doors to the public, showcasing exhibitions and collections.
