On Friday, 20 December, the Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra captivated audiences at the Bahrain National Theatre with an enchanting performance of "Songs of the Gulf," under the direction of Maestro Dr. Mubarak Najem. The concert took listeners on an emotional journey through the rich tapestry of Arabian Gulf musical heritage.

Blending tradition with modernity, the orchestra reinterpreted Gulf classics through contemporary arrangements, offering a fresh perspective on these timeless compositions. Highlights of the evening included "Ana Hanet" by Khaled Al Shaikh, "Helwat Oman" by Yarub Abdulhameed, "Tara Al Layl" by Yusuf Al Mahanna, "Ya Sariya" from Hijazi folklore, and "Hala Belli Lefani" by Matar Abdullah, among other beloved melodies.
Founded in 2022 by Maestro Dr. Mubarak Najem -commender of Bahrain Police Band and chairman of Bahrain Music Institute- the Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra marks a new chapter in the Kingdom’s musical evolution. With over 100 musicians and choir members, the orchestra is supported by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities. This initiative underscores Bahrain’s commitment to the arts as a vital expression of its cultural identity and heritage, while establishing the Kingdom as a vibrant hub for creativity and innovation in the region.
